Robot goes foam blocks to attack via apps

During the CeBIT exhibition to be held in March in Hannover, visitors with an app can claim a foam block which then modify a robot. Visitors can get to make the robot include furniture.

The RoboChop -installation consists of four arms that can grab foam blocks of 50x50x50cm. The installation will be placed at the CeBIT exhibition and visitors and other Internet users worldwide can choose from an app how the blocks should be edited. This is done using an external tool filament, said the makers.

According to the creators , Clemens Weisshaar and Reed Kram, the robot can include chairs and tables but also abstract of the material objects. Upon completion, the objects are packed and sent to the user, where these are. In total RoboChop will work as two thousand blocks.

The project is part of the Code_n competition for Internet of Things applications, which will be held in Hall 16 of CeBIT. The fair takes place from 16 to 20th March.
