Rocket League gets update for cross-platform parties and clubs next week

Rocket League developer Psyonix releases an update on February 19 that makes it possible to create Party’s and Clubs with players on all different platforms. Crossplay between PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Switch was already possible with random players.

Psyonix adds a new Friends List to the main menu of the game with the Friends Update . In it, players can add friends independently of the platform on which they play the game. Then players can make parties and play together.

The new list of friends consists of four tabs: Friends, RocketID, Recent Players and Alerts. The first tab shows all the friends playing on the same platform. The RocketID tab also shows friends playing on a different platform. All Rocket League players are automatically assigned a RocketID consisting of the player name and four random numbers.

In the Recent Players tab an overview appears with opponents or fellow players from recent games. From this list, players can send each other a friend request, regardless of the platform. In the Alert tab all interactions such as friend requests, invitations for parties and clubs are collected. Clubs too are fully cross-platform after the update.

Crossplay has been possible in Rocket League for a long time between the PC, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. In January Sony also tacked and the PlayStation 4 was added.
