Rumor: Amazon rescued by Crytek million investment




Webstore Amazon has a substantial amount invested in the German game developer Crytek, so website Kotaku has learned from anonymous sources. The studio wrong mid-2014 in heavy weather. In exchange for the investment Amazon may use the CryEngine.

Website Kotaku spoke to four anonymous sources who claim that Amazon last summer Crytek saved from the abyss by investing millions of dollars in the German studio. About the size of the amount of the sources do not agree; estimates vary from 50 to 70 million dollars.

Crytek wrong a year ago in heavy weather, after the company had to reorganize. After employees had some months without salary sat the German company decided to studios in the US and the UK close . That the studio went under, is due according to the sources of Kotaku to the investment from Amazon. Details of the deal are missing, but the same sources claim that Amazon has a license deal with Crytek. The shop may use the CryEngine studio.

What Amazon is the engine, is not known. However, the deal with Crytek is not the first investment that Amazon does in a game company.
