Rumor: ASRock provides mini PC Intel Braswell-soc and USB c
ASRock will soon introduce a fanless mini PC Brass Well, reports the Hungarian site IPON. The computer called Beebox would become available as barebone or as a complete system. The device features a dual-core Celeron N3000, USB type-C and an IR sensor.
In pictures with the logo of ASRock, which have been obtained from the Hungarian site IPON, is the Beebox see . The passively cooled device has a black housing with dimensions of 119x110x46mm, and with the supplied VESA bracket to be attached to the back of a monitor. In front is a 3.5 mm headphone jack and an IR sensor; In addition, there are a USB 3.0 and a USB type-C connector. The presence of the last connection is remarkable: very few PCs are equipped with it. Behind are two HDMI ports, a display port connector, two USB 3.0 ports and Gigabit LAN. Via Wi-Fi ac and Bluetooth 4.0 wireless connection can be made with the computer. The illustrations also show a small remote control; it is unclear whether that is included.
According IPON the Beebox will be available in three configurations: a two barebone and complete systems. All computers have the Celeron N3000-soc from Intel’s new Brass Well series, successor to Bay Trail designed for low-cost laptops and PCs. The N3000 has two cores running at standard 1,04GHz, with a maximum boost to 2,08GHz. The chip with a TDP of 4W features 2MB of L2 cache and is baked at 14nm. The integrated Intel HD Graphics has twelve execution units that operate at speeds between 320MHz and 600MHz. In contrast to the integrated graphics from the earlier Bay Trail platform, the HD Graphics in the Celeron N3000 can also operate 4k monitors. Incidentally, the soc is slower than a Core M processor, even if no speed monster. Devices based on the Brass Well-platform is therefore especially suitable for simple tasks or for example as part of a home theater solution.
One complete system would be supplied with Windows 8.1 with Bing, 2GB DDR3L-1600 memory and a 32GB mSATA SSD. The other system does not have as an Ippon included ox, but 4GB DDR3L-1600 memory and a 128GB mSATA SSD. The barebone variant buyers must still provide its own memory and storage. The Celeron N3000 can control up to 8GB DDR3L-1600 memory; There are two memory slots available. Also room for an mSATA SSD and 2.5 “SATA hard drive.
The Beebox will probably be officially announced at Computex in early June. According IPON the device to the end of June or early July appear on the shelves. About the price is nothing yet known.
