Rumor: Europe approves acquisition of KPN subsidiary Base by Telenet




Belgian cable operator Telenet will according to Reuters permission from the European Commission to acquire KPN subsidiary Base. National supervisors would have been aware of the consent. Soon would follow the confirmation.

That would be consent, Long was not sure, because the European Commission proposed to the last acquisition in the telecom industry such conditions that the providers themselves afbliezen. Also at the Base takeover conditions seem to be stuck. Base had half Mobile Vikings in hands, but Medialaan took that virtual provider in November at all about it.

The way is now free for the cable company to take over the KPN subsidiary, reports Reuters. Telenet announced the intention to acquire known. After the acquisition, Telenet has its own mobile network in hands. Other mobile networks in Belgium are owned by Proximus and Mobistar. Base has more than three million customers.
