Rumor: Facebook comes with news app that resembles Twitter

Facebook would be working on an app that allows media breaking news to users can push. The app would have some similarities with Twitter, but are more limited: thus, users can not install updates, but will only subscribe.

According to Business Insider, which claims to have spoken to a source on the app and screenshots of the app to have seen, Facebook is working with a small number of companies together to test the app. At present, the Twitter-like app still in the alpha stage; it is not clear when Facebook app would like to show to the general public.

The app gives users BI as the ability to track ‘stations’ and ‘substations’, which stands for publications and certain topics. Publications can then issue breaking news alerts, that it is unclear whether that really push the message on the phone of a user entering.

A major difference here is that Twitter media can only links to their own sites ‘tweeting’, and so can not create alerts for other sites.
