Rumor: iPhone 6s has RGBW camera sensor from Sony

The iPhone 6s would have a 12-megapixel sensor from Sony with an RGBW sensor. Such a sensor with an additional white subpixel is currently only in Huaweis latest smartphone P8. It is intended to allow for better pictures to less light.

There have been going longer rumors about a 12-megapixel camera in the iPhone suspected 6s, but the Chinese website Feng is the first to speak about an RGBW sensor. The extra white pixel on the sensor must ensure that the camera sensor can capture more detail in low-light situations.

The Huawei P8 is currently the only smartphone with an RGBW sensor, a Sony IMX278. Which has a maximum resolution of 13 megapixels, making it not obvious that Apple exactly which sensor to use.

The suspected iPhone 6s follow the current iPhone 6.
