Rumor: Leica comes with compact camera with full frame sensor




Leica would announce a compact camera with full frame sensor according to a Japanese site next week. This means that the after the Sony RX1 would be the second compact camera on the market with a full-frame sensor.

The Japanese site Digi Came info states that the announcement of the camera to take place next Wednesday. The camera has a full frame CMOS sensor with a maximum resolution of 24 megapixels, enabling users in up to full HD filming.

The lens is a 28mm ASPH lens Leica itself. The housing is made of magnesium, while the top is made of aluminum. On the back is a touch panel for control, while there is also a possibility to take pictures remotely with a smartphone or tablet. Before WiFi support is present in the camera.

Many details about the camera still missing. So it is unknown when the Leica Q should come from and how much it will cost. The Sony RX1, the only current compact camera with full frame sensor, is currently in the Price Watch for around 2600 euros.
