Rumor: Nexus 5 2015 RGBW sensor for better pictures in lower light
The new Nexus 5, which should be out this fall, according to a new rumor a RGBW camera sensor that better pictures in lower light should be able to fix by adding a white pixel to the traditional red, green and blue pixels.
The sensor is the Sony IMX278, reported a source in the Chinese social network Weibo these past few weeks, information about hardware from various manufacturers in the telecom industry has put online. Because leaks so recently begun, it is still difficult to check how reliable is his information.
If the new Nexus 5 would contain the IMX278, it would not be the first smartphone with this camera sensor. Also, the P8 Huawei this spring, this sensor onboard. The intention is that the sensor through the white pixel can capture more light from above shadows, and he can capture low-light images with greater detail and contrast. The camera would have optical image stabilization and a maximum resolution of 13 megapixels.
The specs sheet also contains some details that have already surfaced in rumors about the new Nexus 5, including a 5.2 “screen with” 2k’ resolution, presumably 2560×1440 pixels. The SOC would be a Snapdragon 808, the same soc which LG himself used in his G4. There would 3GB to lpddr3 memory on board. The specsheet repeats the presence of a fingerprint scanner.
The details come after earlier pictures and renders the device appeared online. It is unknown when the new Nexus would appear, but given the upcoming release of Android 6.0 Marshmallow which will not be long in coming.
