Rumor: Qualcomm wants to take NXP for 27 billion euros

There are rumors that Qualcomm has plans to take over the Dutch chipmaker NXP. The potential deal would amount to about 30 billion dollars, the equivalent of some 27 billion euros, are involved.

NXP That suggests the usually well-informed The Wall Street Journal, with the newspaper claiming unspecified sources. There were already conducted extensive interviews in which it is expected that within two to three months a deal, which means that according to rumors should be a sum of 27 billion euros on the table, can be reached between the two parties.

The Wall Street Journal points out that there is still uncertainty surrounding the deal. Should it not come to an agreement, Qualcomm will look for alternatives to a takeover, said the sources of the newspaper business. For what possible candidates involved, was not disclosed.

NXP is a chip maker that has its headquarters in Eindhoven. The company produces a wide range of microchips. Last year the company had a turnover of more than EUR 5 billion.
