Rumor: Sony working on cheapest smartphone with 4G
Sony is working on a phone that will cost around 150 euros, and supports 4G. That says a Japanese site. A benchmark results seem to confirm that claim. Sony presents its new phone presumably Electronics Show CES.
The phone would serve as the successor to the Xperia E and E2 Xperia thus be called, says the Japanese site EmsOne. The phone should be presented early next year. Sony presented last year at CES include the Xperia E, a phone for around 150 euros went on sale in the Netherlands.
The model number of the Xperia E2, D2303, emerged in a benchmark result of Antutu, claiming it also Japanese Ameblo. The model number indicates a cheap 4G phone. The D stands for 2014, while the first two digits tell where Sony puts the phone in its lineup: the lower the number, the lower the price. For example, the Xperia S phones were in the C6000 series. The latter figure 3 represents the supported network technology. All Sony phones with a 3 in the end have 4g on board.
Although the characteristics are unknown, it is the 4G connectivity obvious that the Xperia E2 runs on a Qualcomm soc such a Snapdragon 400.
