Publisher Ubisoft may work on a new Splinter Cell game. The company would thereby have invoked again Michael Ironside to speak in the voice of protagonist Sam Fisher. Ironside also fulfilled that role in the first five games in the franchise.

The rumor comes from NeoGAF user Crossing Eden, which has proved reliable in the past frequently about information leaking from the corner of Ubisoft. One of his contacts would be encountered Michael Ironside in a development studio of the publisher in Toronto, Canada. “I also know that the Toronto location, the Motion Capture studio to make the game,” he says. In an update, possibly from another source, Crossing Eden adds that Ironside on a film set in the city itself also told colleagues that he is working on a new Splinter Cell.

The last game of the series, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, appeared about three years ago. The decision to deploy Michael Ironside again, is somewhat surprising because Ubisoft thus comes back on the decision to put in a new voice actor Sam Fisher in Splinter Cell: Blacklist at. At Blacklist namely Eric Johnson took over the baton. Why this was done is unknown, but at the same time with the new voice actor got players to see a much younger-looking Sam Fisher than in previous games, so possible Ironside sounded too old according to Ubisoft for the new design, shown at right. Reviewers were not very positive about the change.

Crossing Eden stressed that his sources, moreover, have seen no concrete content materials of the new Splinter Cell, which would indicate that, if this rumor is true, the development of the new game is still at an early stage. It would be unclear which studio is the game works as Ubisoft studios collaborate more with each other and the use of a mocap studio so no definitive indication in Toronto shows of which studio is primarily responsible.
