Chinese manufacturers Huawei, Xiaomi and Vivo would work on smartphones with Edge displays from Samsung. The South Korean manufacturer used the Edge displays since one and a half years in his own smartphones.

Samsung’s display division, the technology would have actively promoted by the Chinese brands, reported the South Korean site ETNews based on anonymous sources. The products were currently in development, although Vivo expected already presents the first smartphone with curved edges on both sides are expected this week.

Of this smartphone, the XPlay5 appeared in recent days images on the Chinese social network Weibo. These images clearly show the curved screen edges. The Xplay5 would run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and the first Android smartphone with a memory of 6GB. Samsung could sell the technology to other companies than Samsung Mobile, because it can stock more and better yields than when it has started mass production, and a half years ago.

The deal with Chinese smartphone makers is obvious, because they are very focused on the reduction of the bezels around the screen. The Chinese Oppo also tried to minimize the bezels last year projection . In the West active manufacturers like Apple, LG, Sony and HTC have less eye to minimizing bezels.

About gears Xiaomi and Huawei is still unknown. Xiaomi presented last week at telecom exhibition Mobile World Congress are Mi 5 with minimal bezels, but without curved edges. Huawei will soon likely be present P9.

It would not be the first aircraft after Samsung with curved edge screens. BlackBerry released last year from Priv, an Android smartphone with curved edges. The Priv screen also comes from the factories of Samsung.
