Rumor: YouTube is engaged in paid video-on-demand service

YouTube is working on setting up a paid video-on-demand service. Reported entertainment magazine Variety. The service would operate about the same as the existing Music Key for music. Google would not confirm the existence of the service.

About the price and the offer of the rag-service is unknown, so many details are unclear. Presumably combines the service offer of paid channels or content that is otherwise not or do not find free on the site.

Variety reports the existence of the service in a background story on the tenth anniversary of the video site. It is not yet known whether the rag service will actually. Google would investigate the possibilities and try to make deals with suppliers.

YouTube announced Music Key in November last year. Besides being able to play music videos without ads, the service offers the opportunity to play in the background and to watch offline. Also includes the subscription access to current Google Play Music collection of tracks.
