Russian officials banned use iCloud




Providing cloud services to the Russian authorities will deal only with the Russian cloud providers to the draft law “On Amendments to the Law on Information, Information Technologies and Protection of Information”. Reported TASS .


The document indicates that cloud computing services to authorities, as well as controls the state budget funds can provide only Russian legal entities or individual entrepreneurs. Their infrastructure must also be in the country, and they will have to pass the state accreditation in the Ministry of Communications.

For providers of cloud services in Russia are, in particular, Apple, Microsoft and Google, which are available on the model software as a service access to office applications (services iWork for iCloud, Office 365 and Google Apps), they also provide services cloud storage of information – iCloud, Google Drive, OneDrive. Their counterparts are Russian companies “Yandex” (“Yandex.Disk”) and («Облако»).

Providers of cloud services will be required to provide the ability to completely remove the information posted by a public authority, and to provide the necessary level of data protection.

Entry into force, if it is adopted, is scheduled for January 1, 2016.
