Russian special services purchase tools for hacking iPhone

Russian special services in the regions purchase tools for hacking devices running iOS, developed by the Israeli company Cellebrite. This is reported by the Russian service of the BBC with a link to the site of public procurement. With the help of a software and hardware system, law enforcement agencies expect to significantly increase the detection of crimes committed in the country.

According to the website of state purchases, authorities purchase UFED Touch2 complexes (this name is a product) not directly from Cellebrite, using for this purpose the services of local “distributors” like “Lan Project” and “Judicial Technologies”. This fact, in turn, affects the price of the instrument. For example, Volgograd management of the CRA paid 800,000 rubles for the goods, whereas Khabarovsk – 1.2 million.

Earlier this year, Cellebrite, according to legend, assisted the FBI in hacking an iPhone arrow from San Bernardino, announced that it was ready to unlock any model of the iPhone, including the newest one. The news of this instantly flew all the world’s media. After a while, a similar statement was made by representatives of the Grayshift start-up, demanding for access to a branded tool for breaking from $ 15,000 to $ 30,000.
