Samsung comes in late April with new fix for 840 EVO SSD

Samsung comes later this month with new firmware for 840 EVO SSD which should resolve performance issues with the SSD. Earlier, the company came up with a fix, but that solved the problem only temporarily.

PC Perspective tested a beta version of the new EXT0DB6Q firmware that later this month distributed among users. It seems that the firmware update addresses the degradation problems, by using an algorithm that creates a periodic refresh that is maintaining the reading speed of old files.

Two months ago, showed Samsung already know again to investigate the ongoing problems with the 840 EVO SSD. In October last year was Samsung with a fix that restored the reading performance in the respective situations, but eventually turned the speed of the drive yet to sink in again.

Users reported since August last year that the read speed of their 840 EVO SSD sometimes greatly decreased. Files older than one month were read at speeds of between 50 and 60MB / s, while the reading speed normally amounted to more than 450MB / s.
