Samsung integrates functions of Calm meditation app into its own Health app

Samsung has expanded its health app Health with a number of features from the mindfulness app Calm. For the time being, the new functions are only available in English in ten markets.

After the update, Samsung Health users will have access to more than 100 guided meditations, a library with Sleep Stories , a number of exclusive audio tracks and a new Daily Calm every day: that is a ten-minute training session to start the day with a relaxed atmosphere. The guided meditations help the user to relax or focus better, or to relieve anxiety and stress.

AndroidPolice discovered that some features of Calm are free, but for others a paid subscription has to be taken out at the Calm Premium service. Prices range from about 12 euros per month or 53 euros per year to 265 euros for a lifelong subscription. There is also a free trial version of Calm Premium.

According to Samsung , the new function is immediately available in the ten markets: Australia, Hong Kong, India, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, the United States, Great Britain and Ireland. Whether and when the service is rolled out in other countries is not known. At least Android 9 Pie is required for the new features. Later the Calm functionality would also become available on the Galaxy Watch Active.

According to the South Korean tech giant, the Samsung Health platform employs 60 million active users per month. The app Calm would have been downloaded more than forty million times.
