Find a Question:
‘Samsung is 2015 successor EMMC flash storage used in smartphones’
Samsung could end this year start the mass production of ufs 2.0 and 2015 use this sequel EMMC flash memory in high-end smartphones. Thus the transition proceeds in universal flash storage slower than expected.
Samsung logo (45 pix) ETNews reports that Samsung to mass produce 2.0 ufs start soon, and the Korean news site is gambling that the Galaxy S6 with the new generation flash storage is provided. The flash memory combines Samsung claims the speed of an SSD and the energy efficiency of EMMC.
The advantage of ufc EMMC above is among others that use is made of a serial interface, where EMMC it still has to do with a parallel 8 bit interface. Samsung speaks of three times as high bandwidth: 1,2GB / s for ufs 2.0 versus 400MB / s for EMMC version 5.0. This would ufs also a twice higher throughput than have SATA-600. Furthermore, the latency would be a factor of three lower than that of EMMC.
The JEDEC standard supports both full duplexing further command queuing so a host system on with other tasks after sending the read and write. Partly because many modern smartphones with large files such as high-resolution video work, the new standard would be welcome. EMMC is based on the MMC standard memory card combines memory and controller on a small PGI -package. The speed is increased in successive generations, but now it seems the rack from the standard.
The transition from EMMC storage memory to ufs for high-end smartphones and tablets is therefore expected for some time. Thus Toshiba made earlier this year announced that production of its ufs 2.0 products would start in the second quarter and that manufacturer even said to collaborate with Qualcomm to ensure that the Snapdragon SOC 805 supports memory. Why past year no devices with ufs 2.0 memory from Toshiba have appeared is unknown. Incidentally Toshiba called bandwidth 5,8Gbit / s, approximately 725MB / s, for his ufs 2.0 HS-G2 products and 11,6Gbit / s, or approximately 1,45GB / s for HS-G3. Ufs would be more efficient during read and write, but the idle and sleep EMMC consumption would be lower, which could also be a reason for delayed adoption.

Probably the cost ufs 2.0 products are initially still high, which initially high endproducten it will be fitted. Xiaomi will also handle according ETNews ufs for smartphones, but that probably applies to many more manufacturers in 2015.
About a week ago, had already rumored that the Galaxy S6 on a Broadcom chip that has the power consumption when using wifi and gps 80 percent should return. This would be possible by letting handle the goods by a separate chip in place of the application processor.Viewing:-293
