Samsung is working on 360-degree camera for virtual reality display

Samsung is working on a camera that can record the entire area at the same time. Thanks to 17 full HD cameras looking at the camera 360 degrees around. The camera shoots according to Samsung one gigapixel per second of video.

This can be calculated that the 17 full HD cameras create images on at least 28fps. The cameras are around the unit grouped in pairs so they can capture images in stereoscopic 3D. On top is an extra camera. Moreover, the cameras have a wide angle, making them much of the area to record, as is on the project page .

The camera is designed to record images of Samsung’s new virtual reality headset Gear VR , which opens next month. The camera itself will not come out for the time being. Samsung says it is a project in development and this is an intermediate step to the finished product, which it is not yet clear when it will appear. Samsung announced the camera to its own developer conference Samsung Developer Conference.
