Samsung today announced the launch of its new portable storage disk, the Samsung Portable SSD T5 , the latest in its series of portable external storage products that come with the status of “static” SSD.

“The T5, which is based on Samsung’s latest 64-layer V-NAND storage technology, delivers industry-leading transmission speeds with encrypted data security,” the South Korean consumer electronics giant said in a statement on its website. Samsung added that the new T5, which provides speeds of 540 megabits per second, 4.9 times faster than HDD products, was designed specifically for content makers, business professionals and the IT sector, as well as ordinary consumers, giving them easy and instant data access .

The new storage disk is small in size with a thickness of no more than 10.5 millimeters and weighs no more than 51 grams, and comes with an aluminum structure, available in black and blue.

Samsung said the new T5 could withstand the shock due to its lack of moving parts, as it could survive the fall from two meters high. It comes with a program that supports various operating systems for personal computers and mobile devices with AES 256-bit data encryption technology.

The device also has a mobile application that supports the work on tablets and smart phones operating Android. The storage disk also comes with two wires, the first: USB-C to USB-C, and the other: USB-C to USB-A, making it workable with various modern and old devices.

Samsung said that the T5, which comes with USB-C USB 3.1 (the second generation provides 10 Gbps), with three years warranty and is available in the global markets as of 15 August 2017.
