Samsung makes at least million copies of foldable smartphone

Samsung will make at least a million copies of its first foldable smartphone and the device will be released in the first half of 2019. Samsung will make a new model every year, just like the Galaxy S and Note series.

That says smartphone top DJ Koh from Samsung, according to news agency Yonhap . Samsung has not yet determined which name the foldable smartphones get. The further production of foldable smartphones will be determined on the basis of the success of the first model. Samsung annually delivers hundreds of millions of smartphones; one million foldable copies is a relatively small number.

Furthermore, Koh said that Samsung has set up a team with Google to develop an interface for foldable smartphones. That happened after DJ Koh had a meeting with Google CEO Sundar Pichai two months ago.

In another article by Yonhap, which is based on ‘sources from the industry’, the news agency writes that Samsung will announce the foldable smartphone in March together with a 5g version of the Galaxy S10. The regular Galaxy S10 versions are already announced in February.

Samsung showed a foldable smartphone last week at its developer conference, but much more than the screen was not visible. The rest of the phone was covered. The folding screen has a diagonal of 7.28 “and a resolution of 2152×1536 pixels On the outside is a 4.58” screen with 1960×840 pixels.
