Samsung has applied for a patent on a concept whereby the interface of a smartwatch is projected on the basis of the user. It is also user interaction: buttons that are projected on the hand can be ‘pressed’.

The patent application was filed with the US patents USPTO organization. Thereby also released images, as discovered PhoneArena. the technique developed by Samsung detects where the hand of the user is located, and then turn on a built in projector to display the interface. Incidentally, Samsung suggests that it is also possible to project the interface on other surfaces, such as a wall.

Furthermore, the system detects that the user puts his fingers, so for example, projected buttons can be if it were pressed. The user can operate his smartwatch without touching the screen. One of the advantages of this is that there is more space in the hand is to project slightly smaller than on the smart watch screen. In addition, there would be by projecting buttons are more space on the screen for other things.

As usual with patent applications, it is not clear whether the concepts shown ultimately find their way into products in stores. However, the application shows that Samsung plays with alternative ways to smartwatch-interfaces.
