‘Samsung pulls plug from WhatsApp competitor’




Samsung will stop in the long term with its competitor WhatsApp ChatOn. That says a South Korean newspaper. The plug is not immediately removed from the chat service; instead would Samsung plans to build off slow service.

Samsung logo (45 pix) Samsung would have decided that the instant messaging service in the future is not earning enough money, writes the Korea Times on the basis of anonymous Samsung employees. As part of a plan to divisions that make no profit to tackle would therefore decided to pull the plug on the service.

The app will be phased out by region. In some regions, the app will even be updated before being taken offline. It is not known how long it takes an important step towards the phasing out of the app and when the app is removed completely offline.

At its zenith ChatOn had 100 million users, but last spring showed research that users of Samsung phones prefer Google services. Per month, an average user of a Galaxy device six seconds spend within ChatOn. At present ChatOn yet available for Android, iOS and BlackBerry phones.
