Samsung reports Stagefright- and other security information to mobile devices




Samsung has started to mention additional security information to mobile devices on its website. The manufacturer appoints when given a device software support and whether the device has been updated for the Stage Fright bugs.

Samsung will display the information on the product page of each device has been released in the last two years. The message indicates the current Android version is available for the smartphone and how long the software will be supported. In addition, it states that the smartphone has been updated for Stage Fright 1.0 and 2.0. If the phone does not have obtained a security than the website indicates if and whenever that is going to happen.

With matching Samsung responds to the growing concern for the security of phones. This concern has increased significantly in 2015 by the renowned Stage Fright bugs in Android. Stage Fright 1.0 was a method to crack the phone by sending a malicious link via the standard MMS application. The successor of this bug was Stage Fright 2.0. This variant made Android smartphones vulnerable to attack by malicious users via MP3 and MP4 files.
