Samsung will release Remote Access for smart TVs in 2019

Samsung has announced Remote Access for its smart TVs. The feature allows users to access devices with Samsung software, such as PCs, laptops and smartphones via their smart TV. The feature will be released in the course of 2019.

Samsung reports that Remote Access works via the IP network, a Wi-Fi connection and web browsers. This allows users to access Samsung’s own cloud environment via their smart TV. To use the feature for the PC or the Samsung Cloud, the user needs a mouse and keyboard.

Remote Access uses VMware Horizon, a desktop virtualization program created by VMware and Samsung. This makes it easier for the user to navigate through the TV in his desktop. The feature has integration with Samsung’s Knox security software, which has been included in every Samsung smart TV since 2015.

It is not yet known when Remote Access comes out exactly. In addition, it is not yet clear whether the feature is available for all smart TVs from the Samsung or whether it is released in stages per series.
