Find a Question:
Scientists demonstrate existence of gravitational waves
Scientists have been able to demonstrate gravity waves. They made use of laser interferometers in the measurements in the United States and Italy. Never before the tiny ripples in spacetime were detected.
The discovery went long been rumored, but Thursday said researchers in both the US and in Italy known ripples actually observed. That happened on September 14 2015 with two detectors of the LIGO or Laser Interferometry Gravitational-Wave Observatory in Livingston and Hanford. Is comparable laser interferometer called Cascina in Italy Virgo .
The US took detectors Gravitation Wave 150 914 where one of the ripples formed by the merger of two black holes is 1.5 billion light years from Earth. The data were collected by the detectors, showed that black holes 75 times per second to each other turned right before they merged. The mass of the black hole that was created by the fusion was similar to that of 62 times the mass of the sun.
The detection is seen as one of the great scientific discoveries of this time. The research appears in a paper in Physical Review Letters and is endorsed by thousands of scientists, including Dutch researchers.
Einstein predicted the existence of gravitational waves for about a hundred years ago. They are part of his theory of relativity. Gravity is made by deformation of the space-time under the influence of mass. When the acceleration of very heavy loads by the space would be wrinkling of the space-time, so was the theory. The latter is now being observed in which the fast-rotating to each other made black holes for the waves.Viewing:-349
