Scientists have created a “nanozaplatki” for damaged heart tissue

When a person has a heart attack on the heart appear damaged cells that are not restored. Instead, they form scar tissue and cease to function. As a result, the heart begins to weaken. Promise to correct this situation, scientists from Tel Aviv University, who created on the basis of the living cells of the heart and gold nanowires “patch” for damaged tissue.

Such patches surgically implanted in place of damaged tissue and accumulate the growth of new, vibrant and fully functioning. A team of researchers led by Dr. Tal Dvir says that this patch consists of a three-dimensional framework made of biomaterial and integrated it into nanofibers. Then it is placed on the affected area. High electrical conductivity of gold enables cells that are used in the patch, to work together through electrical signal transmission network consisting of nanofibers.

The task of the scientists was to make artificial patch to work in unison with living cells of the heart, and the results of the microscopy analysis confirmed this fact. The researchers found that placed on the scar tissue cells without the use of the golden fiber is functioning less active.

After further testing Dr. Dvir hopes that this method of treatment in the future will be able to adopt the cardiac surgeons. Such a development, by the way, are engaged and scientists from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, who created the electrical conductivity of tissue consisting of living cells of the heart and gold nanowires. Furthermore, the nanoparticles may be the key to the new types of vaccinations .
