Scientists simulate part of a rat brain

Scientists from the so-called Blue Brain Project have managed to reconstruct a small part of a rat brain through computer simulation. It concerns a part of the neocortex and contains approximately 30,000 individual neurons.

The conscious research was carried out by a large consortium of researchers, led by the Swiss Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. A description is published in the authoritative scientific journal Cell. It’s the Blue Brain Project, a research project in which scientists have been trying for many years to simulate a brain using supercomputers. Recently, it has been able to simulate a small section of a rat brain.
