Scientists: Tablets help to better learn science
Scientific knowledge of the curriculum more easily absorbed by the students through the plates, rather than through the regular books. More and more U.S. schools are implementing new educational standards, involving the use of tablet computers with interactive software training . American researchers have found that the application for tablets really help students learn science better.
The study, conducted by researchers at Harvard University found that the iPad can help demonstrate the extent of our universe, it is virtually impossible to demonstrate in class. Work will be published in the January issue of the journal Computers and Education («Computers and Education”).
These devices allow students to do things that are impossible to replicate in a classroom. They help students to manipulate virtual objects by using natural hand movements, thereby stimulating the process of understanding and learning, – says Matthew Shneps, head of research and director of the Laboratory of visual training at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics.
Shneps and his colleagues tested this claim by examining the experience of more than 150 students of a university town of Bedford, Massachusetts, which provided Tablets iPad for studying space science. Researchers found that students who used educational applications for the iPad, faster than other lessons learned material, writes resource WebProNews.
The authors hope that their respective studies, to encourage the introduction of tablet computers in schools to help students in the study of traditionally difficult subjects .
