Sea of Thieves: Cursed Sails-dlc is free and appears on July 31st

Microsoft has announced that Sea of Thieves: Cursed Sails will be released on July 31 and will cost nothing. It is the first extension for the game that adds extra content. A second update, titled Forsaken Shores, comes out in August.

According to Microsoft , the Cursed Sails update adds skeleton ships to the game and the new Brigantine ship, which can be manned by three players. Players can work together to take on bigger challenges, which also have to generate bigger rewards.

The new content is introduced through a campaign that is temporarily available and has the title Cursed Sails. This campaign is available for three weeks and during this period players are faced with challenges. All features of that campaign will remain available in the game afterwards.

Microsoft already announced the expansions at the E3 fair in June, but at that time not many details were known about the Cursed Sails update and no exact date of publication was communicated yet. Tweakers published a review of Sea of Thieves in April. The game scored an insufficient, especially due to the lack of content. Microsoft is committed to adding new content to the game throughout the year.
