Seagate 8TB hard drive on the market for around 250 euros
Seagate has launched an 8TB of hard drive. The hard drives that support the Archive label, are available with or without hardware encryption and can achieve speeds up to 190MB / s. The introductory price is an amount of approximately 250 euros relatively low.
The 8TB 3.5 “drives feature a SATA-600 connection and feature 128MB of cache. The speed is 5900rpm. Seagate has a drive with model number ST8000AS0002 without hardware encryption and ST8000AS0012 stored data can be encrypted. According the manufacturer, the disk drives read and write speeds, up to 190MB / s to achieve an average throughput of 150MB / s.
Seagate peace the 8TB discs with six platters. In order to increase the storage capacity is so-called shingled magnetic recording technology employed. Thus the storage capacity per platter can be increased on average by 25 percent. The discs devoid 7.5W and 5W if running in idle mode.
