American company Seagate Technology, one of the largest manufacturers of hard drives in the world, announced its intention to curtail the production of mobile storage HDD 5.2 “7200rpm later this year because of the shift in market demand toward hybrid solid state systems (SSHD).
“We’re going to curtail the production of HDD 7200rpm notebook at the end of 2013,”
– Said David Burks (David Burks), director of marketing and product management at Seagate.
Mobile hard drives with a spindle speed of 7200 rpm drive performance 5400rpm, but at the same time yield hybrid or solid solutions (SSD). As a result, users who are looking for the best performance and maximum energy efficiency, choose a laptop with built-in SSD-drives.
To encourage people to buy hybrid solid-state drives, which will go on sale later this year, Seagate will cease production of 2.5-inch HDD 7200rpm. But this does not mean that they will withdraw from the market in the near future. Their reserves will last for a long time.
