Seagate delete 1600 jobs within few months
Hard drive manufacturer Seagate will delete coming months 1600 jobs, about 3 percent of its total workforce. The measure will save the manufacturer time one hundred million dollars to the cost.
The layoffs should be ready for September, according to a document which Seagate has completed for the US government. Because Seagate in total employs around 52,000 people, it is about 3 percent of the total staff. It is unknown what departments hardest will be affected.
It is the second layoff at Seagate within a year. In September last year were lost over a thousand jobs to be cut in an effort to costs. The measures were necessary because the last time is less with the creator of, among other hard drives, partly because the PC market for a while now in the doldrums.
