Share Ziggo customers faced with problems streaming from Netflix

A group of users Ziggo had problems with streaming Netflix. The quality was according to them much less than they could have expected, while the Internet speeds have been maintained. Ziggo appears to have solved the problem but do not know what has been done.

Users complained, among other things on the forum of Tweakers and Chelloo about problems with watching Netflix. So it was not possible for some people to stream in 4k, while in others the quality continually declined while watching. The problems mainly seem to have taken place at users which were formerly a customer of UPC.

The problems found judging from the reports between mid-January and 1st February. Reports Chelloo user ‘the absolute tune’: “I was yesterday at one point in 240p instead of 2160p Other programs on Netflix in 1080p just told to come inside had exactly the same problems..” His account is supported by posts on GoT such as’ Louike1980 ” I’ve been watching all night to 384p and 480p. ” Most people who experienced problems say they are former UPC users.

On the forums suggest users based on trace routes that make the problems were with the routing of Netflix traffic over the Level 3-transit provider. On February 1, showed an employee of Ziggo’s forum Chelloo know that an unspecified adjustment is done. For many, this adjustment had the desired result and Netflix working properly again.

On inquiring of Tweakers repeat Ziggo spokesman Gradus Vos only that the problem is indeed solved by a further unspecified adaptation: “Ziggo makes continual adjustments to improve the quality of the network.” How it Netflix download speeds problem arose and why it seemed to focus on Netflix and former UPC users is unknown.

Netflix publish itself regularly speeds measuring the service itself by Internet providers. Where the average speed of Ziggo is slightly increased compared to last year, which in the former UPC area dropped from 4,1Mbits in December 2014 to 3,47Mbit / s in December 2015. This is the part of the provider in list of Netflix. Whether this is related to the problems encountered by users is unknown. Moreover, the measurements of January, not yet published.
