for more than 600 million euros
Siemens and the Mendix, which was established in Rotterdam, have announced that a takeover agreement has been signed. The German company takes over the low-code platform developer for more than 600 million euros.

In a joint press release , the companies speak of a takeover amount of 0.6 billion euros or 730 million dollars. It is expected that the acquisition will be completed at the beginning of 2019. According to Mendix there are several areas where the companies can work together. For example, the company must be able to invest more in R & D as part of Siemens and it will be given the opportunity for global expansion.

Siemens sees the acquisition as a way for customers to switch to their internet-of-things-OS MindSphere. Mendix will merge in the so-called Digital Factory Division of Siemens, but keeps its name and office locations. The entire team will remain intact and Mendix will continue to serve existing customers.

The company was founded in Rotterdam in 2005 and has since moved its head office to the American city of Boston. It has approximately 400 employees and is involved in the development of a low-code platform. This allows customers to build applications using a gui instead of writing code.
