Sigma SD Quattro system camera comes in July on the market for 799 euros

Sigma Benelux announced when and at what price the Quattro SD camera comes on the market. From July, the variant with APS-C sensor available if the version with larger APS-H sensor is not yet known.

The Sigma SD Quattro cameras were late February announced , but then it was not yet clear what they would cost. The version that is equipped with an APS-C sensor will cost 799 euros, excluding lens. There is also a kit consisting of the camera and the Sigma 30mm f / 1.4 DC HSM, for a suggested retail price of 1049 euros.

Sigma makes for its cameras using Foveon sensors consist of several layers. The APS-C sensor sd Quattro has a resolution of 19.6 megapixels. Underneath are two layers of each 4.9 megapixels. Due to the sensor design that consists of multiple layers, the resolution is not directly comparable with cameras that have a traditional Bayer sensor. According to Sigma, the effective resolution of the SD Quattro similar to 39-megapixel cameras.

At the introduction the sd Sigma also showed Quattro H, a variant with a slightly larger sensor. The upper layer has a resolution of 25.5 megapixels and the two layers below is 7.5 megapixels. This should correspond with 51-megapixel cameras with Bayer sensor. When the SD Quattro H appears on the market is not yet clear.

Well Sigma makes the price of its new location flash known. The EF-630 will retail for 399 euros and can be extended to 69.50 euros with a USB Docking Station, so that users can update the firmware of the flash. The flash comes on the market with connections for Sigma Canon and Nikon cameras. The Sigma variant will be available in early July.
