Slightly Mad Studios shows first images of Mad Box

A week after the announcement of the Mad Box, developer Slightly Mad Studios has shown the first images of the new console. Ian Bell, head of the studio, shows three different designs on Twitter.

After Slightly Mad Studios announced the Mad Box a week ago, director Ian Bell asked some questions about the console on Twitter. In Bell’s stream of tweets he showed three different designs of the console, a bold and two more traditional designs. In this way, the director wants to gauge how the design reacts.

Bell also says that the console has a self-designed motherboard and that the studio has written its own operating system and engine that can be used by other developers for free. The engine should make it easy to export games in formats suitable for Xbox, PlayStation, Mad Box and PC. Apparently there is a difference between the latter two forms.

The specifications of the Mad Box are not yet known. Last week, Bell indicated that he is in consultation with various manufacturers. The goal is that the console can display games with a resolution of 4k with 60fps and virtual reality with 120fps. Bell wants to deliver a first group of 5000 copies in a year to serve as test specimens. What the console is going to cost is not yet known.
