“Smart” phones are five trends in 2013

Smartphones is getting thinner and lighter, longer hold charge, allow you to play the most “powerful” of the game and even surprised the two screens at once (as it did recently domestic Yotaphone). We remembered the most interesting features and marketing chips that seen in smartphones, published this year. Yes, they have so far not all devices, but the beginning, as they say, is necessary. It may be that in 2014 these options, which are now the prerogative of the flagship models, will get to the economy “smarts.”

Screens with a resolution of Full HD

In 2013, the standard for flagship smartphones steel screens with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, ie Full HD1080p. To understand the seriousness of this achievement, we recall that the same resolution – the displays of modern televisions. However, they have a diagonal of 30 inches and above, smartphones, usually 5-5.5. By definition picture screens Samsung Galaxy S4, LG G2, Sony Xperia Z1 and so on is really ahead of the rest. And the higher the clarity, the better to watch videos, browse photos, surf the net …

The above models are in the area of 25 thousand rubles, but in the second half of 2013 Full HD-screens “settled” and more affordable smartphones with a price in the region of 13,000. Such displays can boast, for example, Lexand Capella and Highscreen Alpha R.

8-core processors

In 2013, appeared on the market the first smartphone with 8 cores – so many do not even have to laptops and desktops. The first device with 8 “hearts” became Samsung Galaxy S4, then appeared also the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. And with regard to these devices 8 cores need not to increase the speed, but rather to increase the battery life. Cores are working in groups of 4 pieces; refer to the first cost of the kernel (they are activated, for example, in the standby mode and when listening to music), the second – the powerful (run during the games and watching videos). Thus, we achieve a 15 to 20 percent increase in autonomy compared to 4-core models.

However, in late 2013 the company MediaTek has introduced an 8-core processor in which all the cores can operate simultaneously. There is every reason to believe that he will be a breakthrough in the field of mobile games and 3D-performance smartphones in general. Devices with 8-core solution MediaTek, are likely to appear on the market in 2-3 months.

Up to two weeks of battery life

The average smart phone should be charged once a day or two – “battery” technology is not keeping pace with the opportunities that offer modern operating systems. Screens are becoming more processors – more powerful, but the batteries are frozen in place. Someone – as, for example, Samsung, – struggles with short battery life with 8-core processors, someone – as LG – uses energy-efficient memory. But, as practice shows, today the only way to dramatically increase the time of the smartphone is a really powerful battery. A better – two.

So did the Russian brand Highscreen: Android-smartphone Boost 2 is equipped with two batteries on 3000 and 6000 mAh battery, which, when using an inverter to give two weeks of battery life. Conventional Android smartphone battery capacity of 1 500-2 500 mAh, and they have to be charged, as we already mentioned, every day or two. At the same time Highscreen Boost 2 large 5-inch screen and a 4-core processor – that is, the component developers are not saved, the device is a complete smartphone middle class. The only difference is that it needs to charge no more than the first Nokia phone series with the microscopic black and white display.

Curved screens

In autumn 2013 the company LG and Samsung announced the first smartphone with curved displays and as a consequence, buildings, – model G Flex and Galaxy Round respectively. These screens are very convenient: the smartphone comfortably hold a conversation in person, and even curved flexible displays, which in theory allows them to make a much more reliable.

The LG say that the back panel model G Flex force can be applied to 40 kg, and then straightens the smartphone, and then when the weight is removed, returns to its original curved shape. Such a test LG G Flex can withstand at least 100 times – without sacrificing performance. Moreover, LG is confident that curved flexible displays for the future: in 2018, these screens will be installed in 40% of smartphones sold.

Optical Zoom

Optical zoom is almost all digital cameras, which is very convenient: it allows you to bring your subject (cat, your other half, a car) without compromising image quality. But smartphones such chips have not been – yes, in the middle of the “zero” experimented with it Nokia and Samsung, but then zoom on all somehow forgot. Forgot – and phones noticeably behind in development of their PhotoChances “tsifromylnits.”

And in 2013 appeared on the market a smartphone Samsung Galaxy S4 zoom with a 16-megapixel camera and the ability 10x optical approximation (zoom). It really is a breakthrough for mobile devices, however, the design Galaxy S4 zoom more like a digital camera, not a smartphone. So it remains to wait for the next year – I want to believe that Samsung and other manufacturers please us-smartphone-enabled cameraphones optical zoom and a more conventional appearance.
