Smartphones top the scene in the UAE

The UAE has some of the highest levels of smartphone penetration worldwide, making consumers ‘digital goods consumers’ preferences more predictable. The results show that 77% of e-book consumers use non-readable devices, preferring to read books on their smartphones instead. The MasterCard payment method was the most widely used payment method in the last three months by respondents in the UAE to buy digital video games or games for desktop / Mac computers or laptops, as well as buy TV / movie programs.

Security concerns have also contributed to the choice of consumers’ preferred payment method, especially in video games. Fifty percent of respondents have bought a video game over the last three months, asserting that the “safest payment method” plays the most important role in making their choices.

On behalf of PayPal, Super Data has interviewed a representative sample of 10,000 consumers in 10 markets (over the age of 18) who purchase digital content online (US, UK, Russia, Poland, Japan, Germany, United Arab Emirates, France, Spain, Italy) ).
