Software Update: 5:21 WinRAR Beta 2
RAR Labs has the second beta release of version 5:21 of his archiving programs RAR and WinRAR released. The popular compression tool is available for various operating systems, including Windows, Linux and OS X. The program can handle the most common formats such as rar, zip, cab, arj, LZH, TAR, GZ, ACE, uue, bz2, jar, iso , 7z and z. WinRAR has a skinnable interface and support for Zip64 and multi-volume cab files. The relatively small jump in version number indicates that this version has only minor changes and improvements.
Now by default WinRAR skips symbolic links with absolute paths in linktarget When extracting. You can enable creating Such links with “Allow absolute paths in symbolic links” option on the “Advanced” page of extraction dialog or with -ola command line switch.
Such links pointing to directories outside of extraction destination folder can present a security risk. Enable Their extraction Only if you are surethat archive contents is safe, zoals your own backup.
If several at files from different folders were selected and extracted using “Flat folders view” the file list mode and “Extract relative paths” option extraction, WinRAR Could truncate paths or some thesis or files. It did not bite if filelist entire contents or a single file was selected.
