Software Update: Audacity 2.1.2




2.1.2 version of Audacity is released. This open source audio editor, which is available for Windows, Linux and OS X, it can record audio and WAV, AIFF, OGG and MP3 files import and export. It has an unlimited undo feature and also has a large collection of onboard effects such as fade-in and fade-out, echo, tempo change and noise reduction. More effects can be added simply because the program supports both VST and ladspa- plugins. In this release the following changes and improvements have been made:


Noise Reduction defaults changed.


We’ve made improvements to several at the spectrogram view of tracks-which are Particularly valuable for vocal work.
New option ‘Spectral Reassignment. This algorithm deduces a ‘finer’ spectrogram for vocal work.
Four new Spectrogram scales.
Improvement to the Pitch (EAC) algorithm – cleaner (sharper) display.
Spectrogram Settings are now available per track.

Other Changes

Upgraded from wxWidgets wxWidgets 3.0.2 to 2.8.12.
Restructuring of the Preferences Menu
Restructuring of the Track Dropdown menu (for the Spectrograms)
The Noise Reduction “Frequency smoothing” default HAS BEEN Increased to three to help avoid metallic artifacts. Resetting Preferences or deleting audacity.cfg will set the new default.
(Windows) The location of Audacity’s work-in-progress directory has been changed, to avoid problems where certainement disc cleaners treated them as deletable temporary files.

Bug Fixes

Crashes on reading very large and .mp2 .wav files have been fixed.
