Software Update: FileZilla



2016 version of the open source FTP client FileZilla is true. FileZilla is small, simple and yet complete. The program is popular because of the low load on system resources. However, a common complaint is that unencrypted passwords are stored on the computer. FileZilla is available for Windows, Linux and OS X, and can from this page are downloaded in different versions.

SourceForge, where the downloads are hosted, lately is negative in the news because it offers some downloads via its own download manager that contains adware. The download is less than 1MB in size and has an icon with the letters “SF”, then you’ve got the wrong man. Is such a 6MB download and there is a FileZilla-icon, you’re good. Since version 3.15.0, the following changes and improvements have been made:

FileZilla Client bug fixes and minor changes:

MSW: Binaries are now ook signed using a SHA256 signature and certificate.
OS X: Move location or COPYING file containing the GPL to a different location in the bundle. On some systems, OS X can not verify the bundle with the file at the old location
Restore focused item if changing directory listing sortorder
Fix restoring the column widths of the failed transfers Transfer in the queue When starting FileZilla
MSW: Double-clicking a divider between a list header in the queue now adjust the sizes of the other tabs just as dragging the width would

Fix for search dialog not displaying the results from the last visited directory or a search
