Software Update: PeaZip 5.7.0




PeaZip logo (75 pix) Version 5.7.0 of PeaZip appeared. This archiving utility is made available under an open source license, and downloads are available for Windows and Linux. The program seeks to distinguish itself from the competition by specializing in security. Encrypting data is therefore one of the main functions of its pea-sized . PeaZip can 7z-, bz2-, gz, paq / lpaq-, Peavey, quad, tar, upx- and create zip files, extract and various file formats, including ace, arj, cab, deb, iso, LHA , rar and rpm. In this release the following changes and improvements have been made:

(Linux) Added read only support (list, test extract) to RAR5 format through RARLAB-based unrar-nonfree; due the non-OSI compatible restriction unrar the software is available as a separate plugin on Add-Ons page or website PeaZip
(Linux) Updated p7zip backend to 9.38.1 beta
(Windows) Updated 7z backend to 15:05 beta
Updated to Lazarus IDE 1.4.0
Updated libraries: crc_hash_2014-08-25, util_2015-05-04

In the About screen, missing and installed plugin are repported, and it has shown a link for checking plugin and addon online
When opening an archive format (ACE, RARv5) that demand a plugin, user is informed if the plugin is missing, and how to download it
Information popup is limited to one per plugin type per session
