Software Update: pfSense 2.3




Version 2.3 of pfSense true. This package is based on the FreeBSD operating system and focuses on router and firewall tasks. It started in 2004 as an offshoot of m0n0wall because of different views among developers and over the years has become a router and firewall package in both small and very large environments can be used. pfSense 2.3-RELEASE Now Available!

We are happy to announce the release of pfSense software version 2.3!

The most significant changes in this release are a rewrite of the web interface Utilizing Bootstrap, and the under lying system, zoals the base system and kernel being converted Entirely to FreeBSD pkg. The pkg conversion enable signals us to update pieces of the system individually going forward, rather than the monolithic updates of the past. The rewrite web interface brings a new look and feel responsive to pfSense requiring a minimum of resizing or scrolling on a wide range of devices from desktop to mobile phones.

To get to a release, we’ve closed 760 tickets total . While the majority of These were related to the Bootstrap conversion, 137 are fixed bugs impacting 2.2.6 and Earlier releases.
