Sony and Panasonic have stopped development cooperation OLED-TVs

Sony and Panasonic has officially announced that they would suspend signed in June 2012 cooperation aimed at the development of OLED-TV market. A key purpose of this transaction was a joint development and marketing of OLED-TVs main diagonal. But since the two companies hope that the cooperation will help bring them to market OLED novelties this year, but in the end it did not happen, then it was decided to terminate the partnership.

Important advantages of OLED-TVs over conventional LCD is that they offer a much better quality and color of the image and thus cause less harm to the environment. The main problem of such panels is that OLED-TVs with larger screens are very expensive to produce, compared with similar sized LCD-TVs. Upon termination of the deal, both companies will continue to develop OLED-panels, but each in his own way. Sony and Panasonic realize that this technology stands for good and bright “future of television”, and once OLED-panel completely replace conventional LCD, the latter in turn replaced the plasma .

In addition, the company noted that not exclude the possibility of joint work in the future, which will focus on the production of OLED-panels. It is expected that Sony and Panasonic will show at the upcoming CES 2014 in January next year, its new 56-inch OLED-TV. Here it should be noted that Sony was the first company in the market, issuing OLED-TV. This event took place back in 2001. At that time, the size of OLED-panel was only 11 inches, and the cost of the TV – $ 2,500.
