The jury of the Sony Worldwide Photography Awards 2017 recently announced the winner of the UAE National Awards category, where Mustafa Gendi won the first prize for his individual image, titled “Transport”.
The Sony Photography Awards are the largest photography competition in the world and the National Awards category is a global program targeting all photographers and aims to honor the best photography taken by local photographers in 65 countries.
The winner is Mustafa Jandi, who holds Syrian citizenship in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. His winning image “Transport” reflects the rapid development of the UAE as well as its creative approach while preserving the country’s identity and cultural heritage.
“I took this picture in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in September last year,” said a soldier. “What attracted my attention and family was the drawings on the wall that reflected the culture of the UAE in light of the great development we have all seen. After that, I brought my son in the Emirati dress he loved so much, and asked him to play with his little car under the drawings. This image is of great importance, highlighting the tremendous progress achieved by the State and the creativity and innovation it has pursued in the interest of preserving its cultural heritage. ”
A soldier has been a journalist since 2006 and has been shooting for nearly 10 years. His passion for this field has led him to attend several training courses to enhance his skills, enhance his intellectual awareness and learn new techniques. He began participating in photography competitions three years ago and received many awards.
The second and third place in the category of UAE national awards were given to Rias Mohammed (second place) for his picture “New Day Begins” and Ferdinand Taboun (third place) for his “security” image.
The winning entries will be presented in the National Awards category along with the other winning entries in the Sony World Photography Awards categories as well as the winning images at the Martin Bar & Sony World Photography Awards from 21 April to 7 May 2017, and will be published in the annual winners’ book.Viewing:-74
