Sony brings consumer SSD internationally

Sony has indicated that it is also outside of Japan will sell its SSD’s. It is about the consumer series SLW-M announcing the Asian branch of the company. Although many details are still missing is known that there are versions of 240GB and 480GB.

The SLW-M series is the Sony Asia website put and it is envisaged that the SSDs will be released internationally. Therefore the SLW-M series is the first report to SSD that Sony outside Japan; the company is a relative newcomer to the SSD market. It sold two different models with storage capacities of 240GB and 480GB. The hardware is likely to be driven by a controller from the Phison S10 series, so do TechPowerUp.

In addition, the SSD has a SATA 3.0 interface with a maximum speed 6.0Gbit / s, and Sony promises that read speeds of 560Mbyte / s are achieved, while write speeds are 530Mbyte / s. The whole is in a housing with a thickness of only 7 mm.

Precise data on the availability in Europe are still missing. The prices that Sony calls are therefore not yet known for the SSD.
