Find a Question:
Sony buys pay channel Film1
The entertainment business Sony buys pay channel Film1. At present, the parent company of Ziggo and UPC, Liberty Global, still owns the station. However, that company must sell Movie1 its acquisition of Ziggo.
Film1 As part of the acquisition Sony takes all five premium channels Film1, as did the Film1 Go application, which allows users on smartphones, tablets and PCs to be able to watch movies on the pay channel. Ziggo and UPC to continue providing the channel, Sony promises.
To gain approval for the acquisition of Ziggo promised Liberty Global to get rid of Film1. Ziggo namely co-owner of the Dutch branch of HBO, and European regulators feared that Liberty Global otherwise too large a share of the market for pay TV would get.
It is not known what Sony pay for the pay channel. “This is something we do not comment,” said spokesman Bert Holtkamp of Liberty Global. When the acquisition is completed, it is not entirely clear, because of the power outage in North Holland is spokesman Holtkamp unable to figure this out. “But I think that was the second quarter,” said Holtkamp. Sony was not available for comment.Viewing:-174
