Sony compensate users for PSN downtime around Christmas

Sony PlayStation users will compensate for the PSN downtime around Christmas. PlayStation Plus users get five days free while all PSN users 10 percent discount on their next digital purchases, says the manufacturer.

Sony PSN logo fpa Sony calls the compensation ‘an appreciation for the patience of users, but makes no excuses in the message. The PSN servers were like those of Xbox Live down after a DDoS attack during the Christmas season.

Users of payment service PlayStation Plus get five days free from Sony, approximately equal to the period in which the failure occurred. All users of PSN also receive a code, which they receive one-time 10 percent discount on purchases such as games, movies and series on PSN.

Thursday showed that all members of hacker group Lizard Squad were arrested. That group would have been behind the attacks.
